Blue Mound Trail Run
Blue Mound Trail Run takes place at Blue Mound State Park in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin, about 20 miles west of Madison. The 2026 edition is scheduled for June 6, 2026; registration is expected to open by April 1. A state park vehicle admission sticker is not required during the State Parks Free Fun Weekend.
Distances:
- 10K
- 18K
Both courses start at the Friends Shelter. The 10K route traverses Blue Mound State Park, descends to the bottom of Pleasure Valley, climbs the Weeping Rocks trail, and continues to the Top o' the Mound. The 18K includes the 10K loop plus a trip to the East Mound (Brigham County Park) and a return via the Overlode Trail. Course terrain includes ski trails, single-track, possible mud, and a climb to the top of Blue Mound. Course maps are available and may be adjusted before race day.
Event operations and amenities include a 370-runner limit, limited parking at the Friends Shelter with overflow parking at the top of the mound, Saturday morning packet pickup at the Friends Shelter only, chip timing by Movin Shoes, on-course aid stations with water and energy drink, post-run fruit and cookies, and T-shirt options with an opt-out choice that reduces the fee or donates the shirt cost. Overall and age-group awards are given and door prizes are offered. Proceeds benefit the Friends of Blue Mound State Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
