Block Island Sprint Triathlon : event overview
The Block Island Sprint Triathlon takes place at Fred Benson Town Beach Pavilion on Corn Neck Road in Block Island, Rhode Island. The event is limited to the first 500 registrants. The course consists of an open water ocean swim, a road bike segment, and a final run along Crescent Beach.
Distances:
- 1/4 mile open water ocean swim
- 12 miles bike over rolling hills with island views
- 4 miles run on Crescent Beach
Roads remain open during the bike segment. Wearing a helmet for the bike portion is mandatory and failure to wear a helmet results in disqualification. The race fee is non refundable. If the ferry is cancelled on race day or there is severe weather, the event will be cancelled.
Participants who are not on the island the night before are required to use a special charter ferry from Point Judith on race morning and must purchase a ticket for their bike. The special charter is not on the regular ferry schedule and tickets for the charter are made available a few weeks before the race. Packet pickup is held on the day before and on race day at Fred Benson Town Beach. There will be no day of registration; online registration closes the day before the event.
