Block Island Shad Bloom 10K Trail Run
The Block Island Shad Bloom 10K is a spring trail race held at the Block Island School on Payne Road in Block Island, RI. The course covers a 10K route that passes over dirt roads with stone walls and rolling pastures, and includes a winding track that overlooks the Atlantic. Each mile presents different terrain and at about mile four the route reaches a steep, double tiered, narrow climb known locally as "the wall."
Packet pickup and day of registration occur at the Block Island School on race day. Registered participants receive an informational email with maps a few days before the race. Event entry is subject to a non refundable fee. Certain Covid restrictions may be in place and participants are required to follow any restrictions in effect.
If the ferry is cancelled on race day the event will be postponed until Sunday, May 11. The race is described as having a loyal following and uses the school grounds for its start and finish areas. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
