Event Overview

The Blizzard Blast 5k & 10k takes place on the Greenspring Interpretive Trail in Williamsburg, Virginia. Runners receive a finisher’s medal, a technical event shirt, and chip timing. The event also offers a virtual race option.

Course Information

The course uses a loop trail that goes through a landscape of beaver ponds, wetlands, and forests. It includes sections of wooden boardwalk and interpretive signs about the environment, history, and wildlife. The course is flat. The 5k is a single loop, while the 10k consists of two loops of the same trail.

Registration Details

The registration fees are:

  • 5k: $30 until January 31, then $35.
  • 10k: $45 until January 31, then $50.

Prices increase by $5 on race morning. Race day registration is available. A technical event shirt is guaranteed for runners registered before February 11; after that, shirts are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Series and Awards

Race points count towards the organizer's Year-Long 5k, 10k, Back of the Pack, and Winter series. Awards are given to the top 3 overall men and women. Age group awards are given for 1st and 2nd place Male and Female in categories from 19 & Under to 70+. Top 3 overall finishers are not eligible for age group awards.

Race Day Information

Packet pickup is available at the event. Participants are advised to arrive one hour before their event start time. Parking is available at the trailhead.

For the 10k course, there will be three water stations at approximately mile markers 1.55, 3.1, and 4.65. The 5k course has one water station at approximately mile marker 1.55. Gatorade will be available at some stations. Port-a-johns are located adjacent to the parking lot.

Live results will be posted on Athlinks.com and accessible via a QR code at the race. Runner tracking via SMS is available upon registration.
