Bleasdale Circle by VÅGA
The event is a fell race that starts and finishes at Bleasdale Parish Hall. The course is 5 miles (8 km) with 1,250 ft (381 m) of ascent. The minimum age for entry is 18. Entries open 13 October 2026 and close 5 February 2027. Entry fees are listed as £5 for FRA members and £7 for non members.
The route crosses farmland, often muddy, and follows farm tracks and fell paths. The race passes Bleasdale Circle, goes toward Higher Fairsnape Farm, then climbs on a farm track to a fell gate. From there it climbs steeply on rough grassy terrain with hidden rocks to Paddy’s Pole (CP1). There is a cut off of 55 minutes at Paddy’s Pole. The route then descends and climbs again to Parlick (CP2) before a steep grassy descent, rejoining tracks and fields past Blindhurst Farm. The final 2 km follow farmland and tracks back to the finish. The highest point is about 500 metres, where conditions can be exposed and may include strong winds, sub-zero temperatures, frozen ground, snow, or ice.
Mandatory kit includes full waterproof top and bottoms, map and compass, whistle, hat and gloves. Kit checks take place at registration and lack of required kit results in no number and no race. Registration and facilities are at Bleasdale Parish Hall; competitors should remove muddy shoes before entering the hall. Parking is very limited; charges apply of £1 per car with two or more competitors and £5 for cars with one competitor. All parking proceeds go to Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team.
