Bleasdale Circle by VÅGA

Bleasdale Circle is a winter fell race centred on Bleasdale Parish Hall, covering a distance of 5 miles (8 km) with approximately 1,250 ft (381 m) of ascent. The route starts across about 1,500 metres of farmland that is often muddy, passes Bleasdale Circle, and continues toward Higher Fairsnape Farm. A further gradual climb on a farm track of about 1,500 metres leads to a fell gate.

From the fell gate the course climbs steeply on rough, grassy terrain with hidden rocks to Paddy’s Pole (CP1). The cut-off at Paddy’s Pole is 55 minutes. Runners then descend along a mixed fell path of grass and rock before a steady climb to Parlick (CP2). The return includes a steep grassy descent with possible hidden rocks and reeds, then farm tracks and fields past Blindhurst Farm. The final 2 km follow farmland and tracks back to the hall. The highest point reaches 500 metres and can be exposed to severe conditions including strong winds, sub-zero temperatures, frozen ground, snow, or ice.

Mandatory kit includes full waterproof body cover (top and bottoms), map and compass, whistle, hat and gloves; kit checks are conducted at registration and missing kit means no registration, no number, and no race. Entry was by pre-entry with a 100 runner limit; the event is now full. Parking is very limited and charged at the venue. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
