Bleasdale Circle by VÅGA
Bleasdale Circle by VÅGA is a winter fell race held at Bleasdale Parish Hall on 14 February 2026. The route covers 5 miles (8 km) with approximately 1,250 ft (381 m) of ascent and reaches a high point near 500 metres, where weather can be exposed and severe.
The course leaves the hall across about 1,500 metres of farmland that is often muddy, passes Bleasdale Circle and continues toward Higher Fairsnape Farm. A further 1,500 metres on a farm track leads to a fell gate, followed by a steep climb on rough grassy terrain with hidden rocks to Paddy’s Pole (CP1). The cut-off time at Paddy’s Pole is 55 minutes. After a gradual descent on mixed grass-and-rock paths there is another steady climb to Parlick (CP2). The return includes a steep grassy descent with possible hidden rocks and reeds, then farm tracks and fields past Blindhurst Farm, with the final 2 km on farmland and tracks back to the finish.
Mandatory kit includes full waterproof body cover (top and bottoms), map and compass, whistle, hat and gloves. Kit checks are conducted at registration; lack of required kit means no registration, no number and no race. Registration and facilities are at Bleasdale Parish Hall where competitors should remove muddy shoes before entering.
Entry is by pre-entry only. The event has a participant limit, a minimum age of 18, FRA permit and associated insurance, and specified entry fees. The route crosses sensitive fell ground and participants are asked to respect the environment. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
