Course, safety and facilities
The route starts from Bleasdale Parish Hall and crosses about 1,500 m of farmland, then follows farm track climbs to a fell gate. The course includes a steep, rough grassy climb to Paddy’s Pole (control point 1) and a subsequent climb to Parlick (control point 2). The return includes steep grassy descents, mixed fell paths of grass and rock, and the final 2 km across farmland and tracks back to the hall. Conditions near the high point can be exposed and severe, including strong winds, sub-zero temperatures, frozen ground, snow, or ice. There is a cut-off at Paddy’s Pole of 55 minutes. Mandatory kit includes full waterproof top and bottoms, map and compass, whistle, hat and gloves; kit checks are carried out at registration. Parking is very limited and a small charge is applied per car. Environmental care is requested for sensitive fell ground. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
