Blazer Dash
Blazer Dash is a community fundraising event held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and School in Germantown. The event includes a chip timed 5K run, an untimed 2 mile walk, and a Kid's Dash for children. Proceeds support equipment and shade for Bethlehem's Childcare outdoor play structure.
Distances:
- 5K Run, chip timed
- 2 Mile Walk, untimed
- Kid's Dash, approximately 200 yards (about 1/4 mile)
The 5K route starts and finishes at Bethlehem and follows roads and walking trails in Germantown, passing through Kinderberg Park. The walk uses the same start/finish area but follows a two mile route. There is one aid station on course. The course is marked with signs and staffed by volunteer marshals; maps are available. A bicyclist will lead the first runner. There are no public bathrooms on the course itself; Kinderberg Park has public restrooms nearby and the school provides restrooms at the start/finish area.
All participants receive a moisture wicking performance shirt. The 5K awards age group prizes male and female three deep across multiple age categories. Packet pickup is available the day before and on race day at the school. Day of registration is available for the 5K and 2 Mile Walk for an additional fee. Free childcare is provided during the run and walk; capacity limits apply. A collection bin will accept new and gently used shoes for donation to Soles for Jesus.
