Blaze of Glory 5K
The Blaze of Glory 5K is a community road race held as the opening event of the Bucks 5K Series. The event has been run for 19 consecutive years and benefits the Plumsteadville Volunteer Fire Company, with all proceeds directed to the fire company. The fire company receives roughly 52% of its budget from Plumstead and Bedminster Townships and raises the remaining 48% through fundraising and donations. Funds support safety equipment; examples cited include basic firefighter gear (about $3,500 per firefighter), air packs (about $6,500 each), and fire truck replacement costs between $350,000 and $500,000.
The event program includes multiple participation options:
- 5K Race
- 1 Mile Fun Color Run with nontoxic color powder
- 2nd Alarm Walk following the 3.1 mile course through farmland
A new course layout was introduced in 2026 using Meetinghouse Road and Curly Hill Road, and previous course records do not apply to the new course. The route holds an official USATF certification number PA25024NP, most recently certified in 2025. Packet pickup and registration are held at the Plumsteadville Volunteer Fire Company the day before and on race day. Parking options include the firehouse area with Stump Road access and the Giant parking lot at Stump Road and Route 611; local directions note a short walk from nearby Capri Pizza.
