Blaze of Glory 5K
The Blaze of Glory 5K is a community road race held as the opening event of the Bucks 5K Series. The race has run for multiple consecutive years and supports the Plumsteadville Volunteer Fire Company, a volunteer department that averages about 325 emergency calls per year. All proceeds support the fire company; the department receives 52% of its budget from Plumstead and Bedminster Townships and relies on fundraising and donations for the remaining 48%. Funds help buy safety equipment and vehicles—examples listed by the organizer include basic firefighter gear costing about $3,500, an air pack at about $6,500, and replacement fire trucks costing between $350,000 and $500,000.
New for 2026 the event uses a revised 5K course that runs on Meetinghouse Road and Curly Hill Road to allow unfettered access to the firehouse. The 2nd Alarm Walk has been revised and extended to follow the runners on the same 3.1 mile course through farmland in Plumstead Township. A 1 mile Fun Color Run uses nontoxic color powder.
Logistics notes from the organizer include online registration only, packet pick up the day before at the Plumsteadville Volunteer Fire Company, race day pickup at the same location, and on-site parking with Stump Road access kept open and additional parking at the Giant lot on Stump Road and Route 611.
