Blaze of Glory 5K
The Blaze of Glory 5K is a community road race that serves as the opening event of the Bucks 5K Series. The event has run for nineteen consecutive years and supports the Plumsteadville Volunteer Fire Company. The race uses a new 5K course that runs along Meetinghouse Road and Curly Hill Road, which keeps firehouse access open during the event.
Event offerings include:
- 5K road race
- 1 mile Fun Color Run with nontoxic color powder
- 3.1 mile 2nd Alarm Walk following the same 5K route
Registration is online only and is accepted until shortly before the race. Packet pick up is held at the Plumsteadville Volunteer Fire Company the day before the race and there is race day pickup at the firehouse.
Parking is available at the firehouse and nearby lots, including the Giant parking area at Stump Road and Route 611; some walking is required from those lots. All proceeds from the event go directly to the Plumsteadville Volunteer Fire Company. The fire company averages about 325 emergency calls per year, and funds from the race support safety equipment and other needs. The organization receives roughly 52% of its budget from local townships while about 48% is raised through fundraising and donations.
