Blackdown Hill Challenge
The Blackdown Hill Challenge is a trail running event organised by Midhurst Milers with Fernhurst Recreation Ground Trust. It takes place at the Pavilion, Fernhurst Recreation Ground, postcode GU27 3HY, on 18 October 2026. The main route runs from Fernhurst Recreation Ground to the Temple of the Winds on Blackdown and includes a climb of 866 ft with views across Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire.
Race options include:
- Main trail race from Fernhurst Recreation Ground to Temple of the Winds
- Shorter adult trail race, approximately 4.5 km
The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and is held under UK Athletics rules. All adult runners must be at least 16 years old. The event is not open to Canicross and dogs are not permitted on the course. All entries must be made online; there are no entries on the day.
Facilities and practical details include parking on site, fully marked courses, a water station, and toilets. Fernhurst lies on the A286, about 3 miles south of Haslemere and 5 miles north of Midhurst. The Recreation Ground is adjacent to the Red Lion pub and the village green.
