Event

The Black Toe Run is a trail loop endurance event held at Hardin Farm, 10010 Statesville Road, Watertown, TN 37184. The course is a roughly 5-ish mile loop with approximately 1,000 ft of vertical gain. The event runs as timed efforts where the goal is to complete as many loops as possible within the chosen time window. Course plans include a small new trail section intended to make the loop exactly 5 miles.

Format, divisions and facilities

Options include 12-hour, 24-hour, and a limited 48-hour self-supported option. The relay division allows teams of 2 or 4; individuals may compete solo. A Rucking Division is offered with required dry weights: 20 lb for participants over 150 lb and 10 lb for participants under 150 lb. Weigh-ins are required for ruckers and failure to weigh in removes eligibility for the rucking patch.

Aid is centered at the barn aid station. Organizers provide water, electrolytes, basic aid-station food, porta-johns, limited electrical access, and a bonfire. Community food contributions are common. A brewery will provide beer on site. Awards include placements by gender or teams, a custom beer stein for those who reach 50 miles in 12 hours, and a special prize or recognition for any runner who reaches 100 miles in 24 hours. Registration closes Fri, Jan 30 at 11:59 PM CT.

Race rules and safety

Only one runner per team may be on course at a time. Runners must record lap times on the event board. Each team member must complete at least one lap every 12 hours unless injured. A 15-minute grace period applies to the final lap, after which mileage is deducted for lateness. Littering can cause disqualification. Organizers may cancel the event for extreme weather and officials may remove or stop participants for safety reasons. Crew must remain in the designated start/finish area.
