Black Squirrel Triathlon : Lake Manawa Beach, Council Bluffs
The Black Squirrel Triathlon is a multi-discipline event held at Lake Manawa Beach in Council Bluffs on 23 May 2027. The event starts and finishes at the beach and uses the lake and nearby paved trail and streets for its courses. The overall site is described as a flat course around the lake.
Event distances and formats include:
- Sprint Triathlon Individual: Swim 750m, Bike 20K, Run 5K
- Triathlon Relay Team: total 25.75K, teams of 2 or 3
- Swim-Run Aquathon: swim and run only, total 5.75K
- Swim-Bike Aquabike: swim and bike only, total 20.725K
- Open Water Swim 750 meters
- Duathlon
The swim course is a clockwise loop straight out from the beach and back. The bike course consists of two complete clockwise loops of the lake. The run course exits the transition area and follows portions of the paved trail and adjacent streets.
Participants registered by April 12 will receive a finisher medal. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers age 15 and above, the top three in each five year age group for males and females, the top three relay teams, and top overall Aquabike male and female.
