Event overview
The Black Squirrel Triathlon takes place on Sun May 17, 2026, at Lake Manawa Beach in Council Bluffs, Iowa (1101 S Shore Dr, 51501). The event includes multiple race formats: a sprint triathlon for individuals, a relay team option, a SwimRun / Aquathon, and an Aquabike individual event. Course and awards
The course is described as flat and fast around Lake Manawa. The race starts and ends at Lake Manawa Beach. The swim follows a clockwise course straight out from the beach and back. The bike course consists of two complete clockwise loops of the lake. The run exits the transition area and uses portions of the paved trail and adjacent streets. All participants receive a finisher medal. Awards include top 3 overall males and females ages 15 and above, top 3 in each 5-year age group for both sexes, top 3 relay teams, and top overall awards for SwimRun/Aquathon and Aquabike (male and female).
