Events

The Black Squirrel Triathlon features three event types: Black Squirrel Sprint Triathlon Individual, Black Squirrel Triathlon Relay Team, and Black Squirrel Triathlon Aquabike Individual.

Location and Course

The race takes place at Lake Manawa Beach in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The swim course is a clockwise, straight-out-and-back route from the beach. The bike course consists of two full clockwise loops around the lake. The run course leaves the transition area and follows sections of paved trail and adjacent streets. The event is described as having a flat course.

Participants and Awards

The individual sprint triathlon is open to participants aged 13 to 100, with a discounted rate for ages 13-18. All participants receive a finisher medal. Awards are given to the top three overall males and females aged 15 and above, the top three individuals in each five-year age group for both males and females, the top three relay teams, and the top overall male and female aquabike participants.
