Event Overview
The Black Squirrel Triathlon is a multisport event held at Lake Manawa in Council Bluffs, Iowa. It features a flat course based on and around the lake.
Event Options
Participants can register for several events:
- Black Squirrel Sprint Triathlon Individual
- Black Squirrel Triathlon Relay Team
- Black Squirrel Triathlon - Aquabike Individual (swim and bike only)
- Black Squirrel Triathlon - Open Water Swim (swim only)
The individual sprint triathlon is open to participants aged 13 to 100, with a special price for ages 13-18.
Course Details
All activities start and finish at Lake Manawa Beach.
- Swim: The open water swim course is a clockwise route that goes straight out from the beach and returns.
- Bike: The cycling route consists of two full clockwise loops around Lake Manawa.
- Run: The running course leaves the transition area and follows sections of a paved trail and adjacent streets.
Participant Perks and Awards
All participants receive a finisher medal. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers aged 15 and above. Age group awards are presented to the top three individuals in each five-year category for both men and women. The top three relay teams are also recognized, and there is a top overall award for male and female competitors in the Aquabike event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
