Black Squirrel 5K Walk/Run and 1 Mile Walk/Roll/Run : Kent State University
The 2026 14th Annual Black Squirrel event takes place on the campus of Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. The event includes a traditional loop 5K course that begins and ends near the entrance to the Beverly J. Warren Student Recreation and Wellness Center and follows the Esplanade through campus. The route includes a few small hills and course markings will be provided for those running the mapped course. The event name refers to Kent State University's unofficial mascot.

Registration has two pricing periods: registrations completed by March 22 include a performance race shirt, and later registrations through April 11 are offered without a shirt. T-shirts and race bibs are available for pick-up at the Beverly J. Warren Student Recreation and Wellness Center on the days before and of the event. Cash prizes are listed for overall male and female winners, and medals are awarded to first through third place finishers in multiple age groups. Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable; the event will be held rain or shine and Recreation and Wellness Services may refuse any entry.
