Black Spur Ultra
The Black Spur Ultra is an ultramarathon event held in Kimberley, British Columbia on August 22-23, 2026. The event is hosted at the Kimberley Alpine Resort, which serves as the primary venue.
The race offers several distance options: 108 km, 54 km, a half marathon (21 km), and relay categories. Relay teams can have up to six runners for the 108 km distance and two or three runners for the 54 km distance. The course features winding, technical single track with no pavement. The elevation gain and loss is 2,230m for the 54 km and 4,460m for the 108 km. Kimberley is a high-elevation city situated between the Purcell and Rocky Mountains.
Participants receive a high-quality tech or cotton shirt, entry to the awards ceremony and post-race meal, and complementary race photos. Medical support is provided by professional EMTs and paramedics. Solo finishers receive a commemorative "Black Spur" item, while relay finishers get a custom medal. The solo race course is a qualifier for UTMB and the event is Trail Sisters approved.
A transition area and multiple aid stations are located on the course. Registration is capped at 500 racers. The registration deadline is August 17 at 23:59hrs (Mountain Standard Time). Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
