About the race
The Kootenay Fun 5 is an annual community 5 km fun run held in Cranbrook that supports Kootenay Christian Academy. The event includes a primary 5 km route that begins and ends on the school field adjacent to 1100 Kootenay Street North. The course runs behind the school and church, follows Kootenay Street N. and 30th Ave. N., continues via Stahl Road and Kokanee Crescent, passes Rotary Way behind the ball quads, and returns to the school property for the finish. Surfaces along the route are paved or packed gravel.
Event logistics include race bibs with disposable timing chips attached, water stations at the start and finish area and at the course midpoint, course marshals, and first aid attendants positioned along the route. Top three male and female finishers in each age group receive medals, and the overall male and female winners receive additional prizes. Early registrants receive an official race t-shirt and swag bag while supplies last; t-shirt sizes cannot be changed at package pick-up. Children under five do not receive bibs and must be under direct parental supervision; little ones under five are free unless a t-shirt and swag bag are requested. Strollers are permitted and stroller pushers are asked to start with the walkers. All net proceeds support sport and technology initiatives at Kootenay Christian Academy. Event results are posted online and timing data is provided via the chip system. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
