Kootenay Fun 5
Kootenay Fun 5 is an annual community fun run in Cranbrook, held in its 11th year. The event features a 5 km fun run and a parallel Last One Standing Backyard Ultramarathon. Net proceeds support sport and technology initiatives at Kootenay Christian Academy.
The start and finish are located on the green area adjacent to 1100 Kootenay Street North. The course runs behind the school and church then follows local streets, with surfaces that are paved or packed gravel. Water stations are placed at the start/finish area and at the halfway point. Course marshals and first aid attendants are positioned along the route.
Entries are processed through Eventbrite; refunds are not available but registrations may be transferred to another person via the registrant's Eventbrite account. The first 500 registrants receive an official race t-shirt and swag bag. The top three male and female finishers in each age group receive medals, and overall first place male and female receive an additional prize. Timing chips are disposable and attached to the paper bibs; bibs may be kept as a souvenir.
Children under five must be under direct parental supervision. Strollers are permitted and stroller pushers are asked to start with the walkers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
