Kootenay Fun 5
The Kootenay Fun 5 takes place on May 2, 2026 in Cranbrook, centered at Kootenay Christian Academy, 1200 Kootenay St. N. It is a community event that brings families and neighbours together and directs net proceeds to sport and technology initiatives at the school.
Race options include:
- 5 km community fun run on paved and packed gravel surfaces.
- Last One Standing Backyard Ultra endurance ultramarathon event.
Organizers expect 600+ participants. Early Bird fees listed are Adults $40 and Youth $30 for the 5 km; Backyard Ultra Adults $95 and Youth 14-17 years $40. Registration confirmation is issued through Eventbrite.
The course runs behind the school and church, follows Kootenay Street N., 30th Ave. N., Stahl Road, and returns to the school property. The surface is paved or packed gravel, and running strollers are accommodated; stroller-pushers are required to start with the walkers.
Water stations are located at the start/finish area and at the halfway point. Course marshals and first aid attendants are stationed along the route and can contact the main first aid station.
