Black Snake Race
The Black Snake Race is a trail running event held on Clohesy River Road in Dinden National Park, organised by Cairns Road Runners. Registrations for this event are closed.
Participants can choose from these distances:
- 5 km
- 12 km
- 21 km
All races run on a dirt out-and-back course along Clohesy River Road. Each distance includes at least one creek crossing. The 12 km and 21 km routes pass the Clohesy River Fig Tree; the on-course water stop is located at that tree and is marked at approximately the 6 km and 14 km marks.
All races start and finish at the first creek past the junction of Clohesy River and Cedar Park Roads. Parking is available along Clohesy River Road or Cedar Park Road with an approximate 200 m walk to the start and finish. Roadside parking is limited because the road is narrow and the road will remain open to traffic. A portable toilet is provided at the start and finish area; the nearby Koah roadhouse is noted as an alternative location prior to arrival. Drinking water is available at the start and finish and at the on-course stop by the Clohesy River Fig Tree.
