About the race
The Black Snake Race is an out-and-back trail event held on Clohesy River Road in Dinden National Park. Runners follow a dirt road route that includes creek crossings and scenic features along the Clohesy River, with the 12k and 21k distances passing the Clohesy River Fig Tree.

All races start and finish at the first creek past the junction of Clohesy River Road and Cedar Park Road. Water is provided at the start/finish and at an on-course station near the Clohesy River Fig Tree (approximately at the 6 km and 14 km marks). A portaloo is available at the start/finish. Parking is limited on the narrow roads; participants are asked to park along Clohesy River Road or Cedar Park Road and walk about 200 m to the start/finish. The road will remain open to traffic during the event.
Registration for the event closes on Thu 12 Nov 2026 at 20:00. The event is organised by Cairns Road Runners and takes place along public park roads and river crossings within Dinden National Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
