Black Nore 10km : Portishead, 27 September 2026
The Black Nore 10km is a mixed-terrain coastal race organised by Portishead Running Club and based at Portishead Open Air Pool in the Lake Grounds, North Somerset. The route follows the coastal path along the edge of the Bristol Channel, passes Black Nore Lighthouse and continues through Redcliffe Bay.
The course includes sections of grass, mud, rocks and tarmac. Runners should expect uneven and potentially slippery ground in wet conditions. The layout is generally undulating with a sustained climb around the halfway mark where a water station is located, followed by a descent, a short climb near the sailing club and a faster finish along the esplanade.
Event services include chip-timed results, a finisher’s medal, a fully marked and marshalled course, medical support and an on-site café. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers and to the first male and female in each age category. On-the-day entries are available subject to availability. Entry is limited to 350 runners and the minimum age is 16.
For safety the event does not permit headphones and the course is not suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs or running with dogs. Free parking is available nearby and the venue is accessible from the A369 and the M5. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
