Event overview
The Black Nore 10km takes place on 28 September 2025 in Portishead, with the Race HQ at Portishead Open Air Pool, Esplanade Rd, BS20 7HD. The event distance is 10 km and the field is capped at 350 runners. Online registration is the primary entry route; any remaining places may be sold on the day on a first come, first served basis at a higher price. Minimum age is 16. Headphones are not permitted.
Course and logistics
The route starts in the Portishead Lake Grounds and follows the coast path beside the Bristol Channel. Features along the route include Black Nore Lighthouse, Redcliffe Bay and coastal views towards Wales. The course includes a mid-race steep climb with a water station at the halfway point, a steep road descent, a short climb by the sailing club up to the old golf course, and a final run down to the esplanade for the finish. Surfaces are mixed - grass, mud, rocks and tarmac - and parts of the course are uneven and may be slippery; the course is not suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs or running with dogs.
Included for entrants are a finisher’s medal, clearly marked and marshalled course, timed results, at least one water station, a café, fully qualified medical assistance and prizes for the top three men and top three women.
