Black Nore 10km : Portishead Open Air Pool, North Somerset
The Black Nore 10km, organised by Portishead Running Club, is a coastal road and trail race that begins at Portishead Open Air Pool in the Lake Grounds. The course distance is 10 km and it follows the North Somerset coastline, including sections on the coastal path and the esplanade.
The route passes Black Nore Lighthouse and runs through Redcliffe Bay with views across the Bristol Channel to Wales. Terrain includes grass, mud, rocks and tarmac, with generally undulating ground. There is a more sustained climb around the halfway point where a water station is located, a descent back toward the coast, a short climb near the sailing club and a faster finish along the seafront. Runners should expect uneven and potentially slippery sections in wet weather.
Entries are limited to 350 runners and on-the-day entries are available subject to availability. Prices vary for affiliated and unaffiliated runners and an early bird discount was offered for entries before 1 June. Minimum age for participation is 16. Headphones are not permitted for safety reasons. The course is not suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs or dogs.
Race services include chip-timed results, a finisher’s medal, a fully marked and marshalled course, a water station, medical support, prize categories for top finishers and an on-site café. Free parking is available nearby and the venue is accessible via the A369 and the M5. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
