Black Excellence 5K
Black Excellence 5K is a community road race held in May in Lynn, Massachusetts, with the course centered at Grace Methodist Church, 374 Broadway, Lynn, MA 01904. The event is organized by the North Shore Juneteenth Association Inc., a not-for-profit 501c(3) that focuses on celebrating Juneteenth and centering Black American culture through education, storytelling, and community programming.
The event offers an in person race and a virtual participation option. Virtual participants may upload finish times and photos starting on Race Day through the following Sunday. Tracking methods accepted include measured tracks, treadmills, and common running apps; a four lap track equals one mile.
Event amenities include live online, text, and email results, free finish line photos, and personalized bibs for registrations completed at least three weeks in advance. Bib pickup in person is available from event staff beginning one hour before the race; a bib number is required for pickup and last minute registrants receive a bib number by text shortly after registering. Virtual bibs are mailed the Monday before the event, allowing three to five days for delivery.
Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in two age categories: under 18 and over 18. Results and same day photos are posted online. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
