Black Diamond Express Trail Races : Mendon, New York
The Black Diamond Express Trail Races take place on Sunday, August 23, 2026, on the Lehigh Valley Trail. The Mendon Foundation organizes the event in partnership with Monroe County Parks; 2026 is the event's 15th year.
Both races start in the Hamlet of Mendon near the baseball fields south of Route 251 and follow out-and-back courses on the Lehigh Valley Trail, which occupies the former Lehigh Valley Railroad right of way.
Distances
- 5K: starts in Mendon, runs 1.55 miles west toward Chamberlain Road, returns.
- Half Marathon: starts in Mendon, runs 6.55 miles west toward Rush, returns.
The Half Marathon course holds USATF certification NY17052JG. The event is noted as the first half marathon in the southeast portion of the county and the course is described as flat.
For 2026, prizes are offered and the first 150 registrants receive a choice of a commemorative long-sleeve T-shirt or a coffee mug. The half marathon is part of the Greater Rochester Track Club Rochester Runner of the Year series. The Mendon Foundation maintains the trail with volunteer help and private donations.
