Black Diamond Express Trail Race
The Black Diamond Express Trail Race takes place on August 23, 2026 along the Lehigh Valley Trail in the Hamlet of Mendon. The event is organized by the Mendon Foundation in partnership with Monroe County Parks and offers two distances on the trail corridor.
- 5K
- Half Marathon (USATF certified course NY17052JG)
Both races start near the baseball fields south of Route 251 in the Hamlet of Mendon and use an out-and-back layout that finishes at the same location as the start. The 5K runs approximately 1.55 miles west toward Chamberlain Road before turning around. The half marathon runs approximately 6.55 miles west toward Rush before turning around. The half marathon course holds USATF certification under number NY17052JG.
The event is included in the Greater Rochester Track Club Rochester Runner of the Year Series. For 2026 the first 150 registrants may choose a commemorative long-sleeve T-shirt or a coffee mug; prizes are provided for the event.
The Lehigh Valley Trail is managed as a rails-to-trails corridor by Monroe County Parks and maintained year-round by the Mendon Foundation, a nonprofit that relies on private donations and volunteer work to mow, groom, and improve the trail for walking, hiking, biking, and running.
