Black Diamond Express Trail Races
The Black Diamond Express Trail Races take place on the Lehigh Valley Trail in Mendon on Sunday, August 23, 2026. The event is organized by the Mendon Foundation in partnership with Monroe County Parks and marks the 15th edition in 2026. Two race distances are offered on an out-and-back course that follows the former Lehigh Valley railroad corridor.
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles): Out-and-back from Mendon, 6.55 miles west then return.
- 5K: Out-and-back from Mendon, 1.55 miles west then return.
The Half Marathon holds USATF course certification NY17052JG and is included in the Greater Rochester Track Club’s Rochester Runner of the Year series. For 2026 there are event prizes and the first 150 registrants are offered a choice of a commemorative long-sleeve T-shirt or a coffee mug.
The Lehigh Valley Trail is a rails-to-trails corridor maintained year-round by the Mendon Foundation with support from private donations and volunteers. The foundation states it performs mowing, grooming, and improvements so the trail remains available for walking, hiking, biking, and running.
