Black Bear Half Marathon and 8k
The Black Bear Half Marathon and 8k takes place in Hendersonville, North Carolina on October 11, 2026. The event is presented by Hunter Subaru and is USATF sanctioned and certified. Both in-person and virtual participation options are offered.
The half marathon course is routed largely along a greenway and is described as mostly flat, with under 400 feet of elevation gain. The courses are marked for spectators and include chip timing for accurate results. The event is the fourth race in the Appalachian Trilogy series.

Race entries include a commemorative finisher medal and event shirt (long sleeve for the half marathon, short sleeve for the 8k) if registered by the stated deadline; other included items listed by the organizer are a goody bag from Hunter Subaru, complimentary race photos, complimentary parking, complimentary beer for participants 21 and older at a local brewery, a live DJ, and one-of-a-kind prizes for overall and age group winners. Packet pickup is available at Oklawaha Brewing and at Jackson Park on the days before and the morning of the event.
The organizer provides a 10-week half marathon training program run by Jus' Running in Asheville and allows registration transfers to the virtual event, deferrals up to 15 days before race day, and limited distance changes.
