Event details
The Hare Mountain 100 is scheduled for October 23, 2026, at Haw Creek Falls Recreation Area in northwestern Arkansas. The race is a UTMB Index event. Runners in the 100-mile race are allowed 38 hours to finish. The organizer plans to add a 200-mile race the same weekend in 2026 as the course is finalized.
Course and logistics
The main course is a point-to-point route on the Ozark Highlands Trail, using about 100 miles of the trail across the Boston Mountain segment. The route includes two scenic spur loops and passes through hardwood, cedar, and pine forests. The highest point on the OHT in this area is Hare Mountain at about 2400 feet. GPS and topographic measurements place total elevation gain between 20,000 and 24,400 feet. The course features rocky, steep terrain, several creek crossings, waterfalls, bluffs, and sandstone outcrops. A satellite GPS tracker and a downloaded course GPX file are required and will be checked at check-in. Trail marking uses white blazes for the main trail and blue blazes for spurs; runners should be prepared for limited extra marking and long distances between major aid stations.
