Event overview
Hare Mountain 100 is a point-to-point trail event held on October 23, 2026, at Haw Creek Falls Recreation Area in northwest Arkansas. The main course uses about 100 miles of the Ozark Highlands Trail across the Boston Mountain segment and includes two scenic spur loops. Organizers provide course GPX files and detailed section maps.
Course and requirements
The route runs on a maintained National Scenic Trail with white blazes for the main trail and blue blazes for spurs. Terrain includes rocky, steep sections through hardwood, cedar and pine forests, creek crossings, bluffs, waterfalls and sandstone outcrops. Hare Mountain is the highest point on the trail at about 2,400 feet. Measured elevation gain for the 100-mile course ranges from approximately 20,000 to 24,400 feet depending on device or app. Runners are given 38 hours to complete the 100-mile distance.
The event is cupless; each runner receives a reusable cup at the start. A satellite GPS tracking device and a downloaded course GPX file are required and will be checked at check-in. Participants should expect limited additional marking beyond trail blazes and wooden signs and should carry appropriate gear for navigation and safety.
