Hare Mountain 100
The Hare Mountain 100 is a 100-mile, point-to-point endurance run on the Ozark Highlands Trail in northwestern Arkansas, using the Boston Mountain segment. The event takes place on October 23, 2026, at Haw Creek Falls Recreation Area. The course covers roughly 100 miles of rocky, steep, and rugged hardwood, cedar, and pine forest and includes two scenic spur loops.
Terrain and route features include creek crossings, waterfalls, bluffs, sandstone outcrops, notable fall colors, and wildlife. Hare Mountain is the highest point on the Ozark Highlands Trail at about 2,400 feet. Measured elevation gain for the course ranges between 20,000 and 24,400 feet depending on device or mapping method.
This is an advanced-level event that requires self-sufficiency and navigation on a marked but remote trail. White blazes mark the main trail and blue blazes mark spurs, yet turns can be missed and conditions such as fallen trees or fog may obscure the route. A satellite GPS tracker and the course GPX file on a phone are required for the 100-mile race; trackers may be owned, borrowed, or rented and will be checked at check-in. Some major aid stations are as much as about 12 miles apart; most are closer.
Runners have a 38-hour finish window. If a runner departs the last aid station at Salt Fork before its cutoff but arrives at the finish after 38 hours, they may still receive an official finish and buckle. The event operates as a cupless race; runners receive a reusable cup at the start if they do not bring one. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
