Hare Mountain 100
The Hare Mountain 100 is a point-to-point 100 mile run on the Ozark Highlands Trail in the Boston Mountain segment of northwest Arkansas. The course uses 100 miles of rugged trail and includes two scenic spur loops. Terrain includes rocky, steep sections through hardwood, cedar, and pine forests, with creek crossings, waterfalls, bluffs, sandstone outcrops, wildlife, and notable fall colors.
Hare Mountain is the highest point on the Ozark Highlands Trail at about 2400 feet. Measured elevation gain for the course ranges from roughly 20,000 to 24,400 feet depending on device or mapping method. Runners are allowed 38 hours to complete the 100 mile course.
The event is cupless; each runner receives a reusable cup at the start. A satellite GPS tracking device and the course GPX file are required and will be checked at check-in. The trail is marked with white blazes for the main trail and blue blazes for spurs, but participants should expect limited extra marking beyond trail blazes and wooden signs. The organizer advises runners to be self-sufficient, comfortable with navigation, prepared to carry extra safety gear, and aware of long distances between major aid stations.
