The Birdie Derby takes place on Thanksgiving Day at Fitchburg Business Park, 5200 E Cheryl Parkway, Fitchburg WI. The event offers in-person and virtual options across multiple distances and team categories.

Race registration includes an official race bib; a choice of a Birdie Derby long-sleeved shirt or a lightweight tech hoodie; a knit hat; a Kwik Trip Glazer; chocolate milk, a banana, and water; Yahara Chocolate; free Oasis Cafe coffee and hot chocolate before and after the event; free race photos; and professional timing by Sportstats on an accurately measured course.
The Kids Dash is a 100-yard untimed run for young children (ages 2 to 6) and is free with a paid adult registration. Virtual registration includes a long-sleeved shirt or crewneck upgrade and a winter hat; virtual packets are mailed the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Virtual participants do not qualify for awards but are eligible to join in-person teams.
All event proceeds are donated to Active Youth Wisconsin to fund financial aid such as shoes, bikes, swim lessons, and related youth activity support. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
