Birdie Derby 5k/10k Run/Walk
The Birdie Derby is a Thanksgiving Day event held at the Fitchburg Business Park in Fitchburg, Wisconsin. Participants can choose between multiple distance options and formats, including both in-person and virtual participation. The event supports a local organization, Active Youth Wisconsin, by donating all proceeds to help provide athletic equipment and programs for children.
Available event distances include:
- 10k run
- 5k run or walk
- 100 yards Kids Dash
In-person participants receive an official race bib, a long-sleeved shirt or lightweight tech hoodie, and a knit hat. The event provides timing services for the 5k and 10k runs, while the 5k walk and Kids Dash are untimed. Post-race refreshments include glazed donuts, chocolate milk, bananas, water, and chocolate. Coffee and hot chocolate are provided at the event village.
The Kids Dash is available for children between the ages of 2 and 6. For those unable to attend in person, virtual 5k and 10k options are available. Virtual participants receive a shirt and winter hat by mail after the event day but are not eligible for awards. Packet pickup takes place at Perennial Yoga in the days leading up to the race.
