About the race
Birdie Derby is a community Thanksgiving run and walk produced by Active Youth Wisconsin in Fitchburg, Wisconsin. The event offers timed 5K and 10K run options, an untimed 5K walk, and a free kids dash for ages 2-6. All proceeds support the Grants 4 Schools program and local financial aid; the organizer states 100% of proceeds remain local to fund school-based wellness initiatives.

Packet pick-up is available the Tuesday and Wednesday before the race at Hatchery Hill Town Center, Suite 101, Fitchburg, and on race day at Perennial Yoga, 5500 E Cheryl Pkwy, Fitchburg. Packets include a race bib, event shirt, swag item, and goody bag. Pre-registered participants who pick up their packets receive additional perks such as a long-sleeve tee or tech hoodie, a winter hat, race photos, and post-race snacks.
Teams must have at least five members to qualify for team awards and team registration closes November 1. Virtual team members do not receive recorded times or team award eligibility. Awards cover overall and age-group placings, wheelchair categories, and team rankings. Volunteers staff many pre-race and race-day roles; confirmed volunteers receive a winter hat and raffle eligibility. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
