Event information

BigMud Trails (EARTH) is the first race in the Classic Element Trail Series by BigFeat Events. The event takes place on 22 February 2026 at Queen Elizabeth Country Park, Gravel Hill, Horndean, PO8 0QE. The course runs through the Meon Valley and the South Downs National Park, and includes a 518 ft climb to Butser Hill that is climbed twice on the route.

Course, distances and entry

The event offers single-lap trail runs on muddy, natural terrain with waymarking. Distances and listed entry fees are:

  • 16 Miles - £40
  • Marathon - £52
  • 50 km Ultramarathon - £62

Cut-off times are 5 hours for the 16 mile, 7.5 hours for the marathon, and 8.5 hours for the ultramarathon. Canicross entries are not accepted.

Facilities and mandatory kit

Aid stations are located at set mile points: 7.6 and 12.2 miles (16 mile); 6, 14.3, 18.2 and 22.8 miles (marathon); 6, 12, 19, 22.9 and 27.5 miles (ultra). Aid stations provide sweet and savoury snacks, vegan options, water and flat cola; the event operates as a cupless event. Precision Fuel & Hydration PH 1000 will be supplied on course (1,000 mg sodium per litre). Runners must carry at least 500 ml of fluid and are advised to carry appropriate clothing. A bag drop tent will be available. T-shirts are available by pre-order only; runners may opt to have a tree planted instead of a finishers medal.
