Event Overview
The Shark Week 5K and 10K is an ocean-themed running event hosted by Bigfoot Running Company. It takes place at Lady Bird Johnson Trail Park in San Antonio. The event includes a Kids Dash, a 1-mile run, timed 5K and 10K races, a virtual run, and a "Volunteer then Run" option for the 5K.

- Kids Dash: A short, non-timed dash for participants aged 10 and under. It includes a race tee, a special medal, and a post-race treat.
- 1 Mile Run: A non-chip-timed run that includes a race tee, a finisher medal, and a post-race treat.
- 5K Run (3.11 miles): A chip-timed race with awards. All participants receive a race tee and a finisher medal.
- 10K Run (6.22 miles): A chip-timed race with awards. All participants receive a race tee and a finisher medal.
The 5K and 10K races feature overall, masters (40+), and age-group awards. Age groups range from 10 & under to 70+. Discounted youth pricing is available for participants aged 12 and under.
Event Features
The event has a Shark Week theme. Music is played at the start and finish lines. Aid stations are provided on the course. Finisher medals are given for the 1-mile, 5K, and 10K events, with a special medal for the Kids Dash. A race tee is included with registration, guaranteed for those who register at least 10 days before the event.
Volunteer Opportunities
There are two main volunteer options. The "Volunteer then Run" option allows individuals to help with packet pickup and then run the 5K; it is limited to the first 10 sign-ups. "Full Race Volunteer" roles are also available, offering a race shirt and a choice between a free future race entry or a gift card. Volunteer roles include water station attendant, course monitor, finish line helper, and mascot.
Course and Logistics
