Running through the Decades - 1980s Edition
The Running through the Decades Half Marathon - Oklahoma City is a themed running event organized by the Bigfoot Running Company. This edition focuses on the 1980s, featuring retro music, a costume contest, and a variety of race distances held at Wheeler Park.
Participants can choose from the following event categories:
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- Quarter Marathon (6.55 miles)
- 5K Run (3.1 miles)
- 1 Mile Run
- Kids Dash (approx. 50 meters)
- Virtual Run option
The courses are situated on paved trails and park paths, though participants may encounter mixed surfaces such as crushed granite or dirt. As the races take place in public parks and greenbelts, the routes remain open to other park users. Aid stations providing water are located along the course to support runners.
All participants receive a finisher medal and a race shirt. The 5K, Quarter Marathon, and Half Marathon are chip-timed events. Awards include trophies for the first overall male and female finishers, recognition pins for Masters (40+) winners, and gold, silver, and bronze pins for various age groups ranging from 10 and under to 70 and over.
