Running Through the Decades 1980s Edition
Bigfoot Running Company stages a 1980s themed running event at Wheeler Park in Oklahoma City. The event offers in-person and virtual options and a range of distances for participants of different ages.
Distances include:
- Kids Dash 50 meters, for children 10 and under
- 1 Mile fun run, untimed
- 5K 3.11 miles, chip-timed with overall and age group awards
- Quarter Marathon 6.55 miles, chip-timed with trophies and age group awards
- Half Marathon 13.1 miles, chip-timed with trophies and age group awards
- Virtual Run 13.1 miles
Event features include a pre-race costume contest with multiple prize categories, a live DJ playing 1980s music, and on-course aid stations offering water and support. All finishers receive a race shirt and finisher medal; shirts are guaranteed if requested at least ten days before race day. Awards include overall Bigfoot trophies, masters recognition for age 40 and over, and age group pins from 10 and under through 70 plus.
Volunteer roles are available with a variety of responsibilities such as water stations, course monitoring, finish line help, packet pickup, lead bike, and mascot duties. Volunteer then Run option exists for the 5K and includes a chip-timed bib, shirt, and medal; this role is limited in number.
