Event overview
Running Through the Decades - 1980s Edition takes place Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Wheeler Park in Oklahoma City, OK. The event is hosted by Bigfoot Running Company and features 1980s-themed elements such as a pre-race costume contest and a live DJ playing 1980s music. Packet pickup is available on race morning. The event proceeds rain or shine.
Distances and awards
- Kids Dash - about 50 meters for children 10 and under
- 1 Mile - untimed fun run
- 5K - chip-timed, overall and age-group awards
- Quarter Marathon - 6.55 miles, chip-timed with awards
- Half Marathon - 13.1 miles, chip-timed with awards
- Volunteer then Run 5K - limited spots, includes chip timing and shirt
- Virtual Run
All finishers receive a race medal and shirt. Overall winners receive Bigfoot trophies. Masters (40+) receive special recognition. Age-group awards are given for categories from 10 & under through 70+ with Gold, Silver, and Bronze pins.
Course and logistics
Courses use paved trails and park paths with some mixed surfaces such as crushed granite or dirt. Aid stations will provide water. Events occur in public parks and on roads, where participants may encounter other park users such as dog walkers and families with strollers.
Volunteer options
Roles include water stations, course monitors, finish-line helpers, packet pickup, lead bike, mascot, and sweepers. Full race volunteers receive a Bigfoot race shirt, VIP access, and a choice of a future race entry or a $20 Amazon digital gift card. Volunteers check in before the race.
