Shark Week Showdown 5K & 10K - Houston, TX
Shark Week Showdown is an ocean-themed running event hosted by Bigfoot Running Company at Brazos River Park, 18427 SW Freeway, The Woodlands, TX 77380. The event includes multiple in-person races, a virtual option, post-race music, aid stations along the course, and race tees and finisher medals for several distances.
Race distances:
- Kids Dash - 50 m for ages 10 and under
- 1 Mile - untimed, includes race tee and finisher medal
- 5K - 3.11 miles, chip-timed with awards and finisher medal
- 10K - 6.22 miles, chip-timed with awards and finisher medal
- Volunteer then Run 5K - 3.11 miles, run after volunteering
- Virtual Run - 9.33 miles
Awards for the 5K and 10K include overall male and female Bigfoot trophies, a first masters (40+) recognition pin, and standard age-group awards across multiple brackets from 10 and under through 70+. The Kids Dash is untimed and includes a special Kids Dash medal and post-race treat. Packet pickup is available before the races and is routinely scheduled to open 1.5 hours before race start. Volunteers have multiple role options and receive race shirts and other benefits; the Volunteer then Run option is limited to the first 10 participants. Course terrain mixes pavement, crushed granite, and some dirt paths. Events take place in parks and greenbelts where other park users are present.
