BigMud Trails (EARTH) - 21 February 2027
BigMud is the first event in the Classic Element Trail Series, themed on the element Earth. The event takes place at Queen Elizabeth Country Park, Gravel Hill, Horndean, PO8 0QE, and features single-lap trail runs around the Meon Valley.
Participants may choose from the following distances:
- 50 km Ultramarathon £68
- Marathon £58
- 16 Mile £44
Each route starts at Queen Elizabeth Country Park and includes a 518 ft climb to Butser Hill, reached twice, with the course running over trails and rolling hills of the South Downs National Park and finishing back at the park.
All runners must carry at least 500 ml of fluid. Appropriate clothing for variable weather is advised. Organisers recommend downloading the GPX file to a wearable device because the marked course can be tampered with.
Aid stations are placed at distance-specific points and are stocked with sweet and savoury snacks including vegan options, plus water and flat coke; the event operates as a cupless event. Precision Fuel & Hydration supplies PH 1000 electrolyte at aid stations and two PFH gels are available at registration.
Additional event details: no canicross entries, a bag drop tent will be available, cut-off times apply by distance, Classic Element T-shirts are available by pre-order, Trees Not Tees offers an option to plant a tree instead of a medal, and on-course photographers will be present.
