The 39th Bigelow Tea Community Challenge - Fairfield
The event takes place on September 27, 2026 at the Wakeman Boys & Girls Club, 385 Center Street, Southport, CT. Race management is provided by MS Running Productions and timing services for the 5K are provided by The Last Mile Racing. Last year participants and sponsors raised over $182,000 for Fairfield County local nonprofit organizations.
The program includes multiple event formats and options:
- 5K run, computer chip timed, awards for finishers
- 3K walk, not chip timed, no awards
- 1 mile Kids' Fun Run for children 10 and under
- 5K Virtual Adult Run/Walk with shirt and goodie bag shipping available
The 5K awards are available for male, female, and first non-binary finishers across age groups. Participants must complete the full 3.11 mile course by running or walking to be eligible for age group prizes. Awards age brackets include 9 and under; 10 to 13; 14 to 18; 19 to 29; 30 to 39; 40 to 49; 50 to 59; 60 to 69; 70 to 79; and 80 and over.
The 3K walk follows the same path as the 5K for the first half mile then follows a separate route south on Westway; all turns are marked. The kids activities on the turf field are not timed. Registered participants receive a T-shirt, a heavy goodie bag from local and sustainable partners, and a raffle ticket for post-race prizes; winners must be present to win.
