The 39th Bigelow Tea Community Challenge
The event takes place on September 27, 2026 at Wakeman Boys & Girls Club, 385 Center Street, Southport, Connecticut. It features multiple in-person and virtual participation options.

The 5K is computer chip timed and awards are given by male and female categories, plus a first non-binary award, across age groups. Participants must complete the full 3.11 mile course by running or walking to be eligible for age group prizes. Age brackets for awards include 9 and under; 10 to 13; 14 to 18; 19 to 29; 30 to 39; 40 to 49; 50 to 59; 60 to 69; 70 to 79; and 80 plus. The registration fee for the 5K is $38.00.
The 3K walk is not chip timed and has no awards. It follows the same path as the 5K for the first half mile, then turns south on Westway to a separate finish; all turns are well marked. The Kids' Fun Run is for children 10 and under, with a 100 yard scamper, a 1 mile jog, or an obstacle course on the turf field; these activities are not timed. The virtual 5K option includes a race t-shirt and a goodie bag that can be shipped; shipping fees apply. Virtual registration fee is $30.00. The kids entry fee is $15.00. The 3K walk fee is $38.00.
Registration includes the event T-shirt, a heavy goodie bag from local partners, and a raffle ticket for a chance to win prizes after the race if present. Additional prizes are awarded to the top three finishers in each age group for running participants only. Last year participants and sponsors raised over $182,000 for Fairfield County local nonprofit organizations.
