Big Woods Half Marathon & 10k
The event takes place in Elverson, Pennsylvania, at French Creek State Park. All races start and finish on the trail near the pool by Hopewell Lake.
Two distances are offered:
- Half Marathon
- 10k
The half marathon course uses trails including Lenape, Buzzards, Raccoon, Mill Creek, and Blue w/Red Trails. It features over 2,000 feet of elevation gain and technical, rocky sections. The route passes Millers Point, which offers a view of the landscape, and runs along some of the park's toughest trails.
The 10k is a shorter version of the course that does not include the "Secret Trail." It follows a lollipop-style layout with an aid station near mile 1.7 and again near mile 4.5. Registration for the 10k does not include a finisher's item.
A five-hour time limit applies for the entire event. Packet pick-up is on race morning from 6:00 AM to 7:15 AM at the bottom of the parking lot near Hopewell Lake. Free parking is available in the lot above the pool and Hopewell Lake. There is no age requirement to participate. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
