Big Burro 24HR
The Big Burro 24HR is a 24 hour timed trail race held April 30 – May 1, 2027 in the Maple Hills Trail System near Big Bear City, California. Participants run continuously for 24 hours and attempt to complete as many laps as possible on an approximately five mile loop.
- 24 hour timed event
- Approximately five mile loop per lap
- Burro Hundred: 20 laps equals 100 miles
The course uses existing Maple Hills trails and combines runnable singletrack, punchy climbs, rocky sections, and fast descents typical of Big Bear mountain terrain. Each lap returns to a Start/Finish basecamp that serves as the primary aid and operations center.
Aid is provided at the Start/Finish Basecamp, the Shore Drive Aid Station, and the Elementary Trailhead Aid Station. Timing, medical support, crew access, and race operations are based at the Start/Finish area. Runners may crew from the Start/Finish area only.
Awards are given to the overall winners by number of completed laps, with top overall male and female recognitions. The Burro Hundred is earned by completing twenty full laps within the 24 hour limit; Burro Hundred finishers receive a belt buckle, listing on the finisher list, and lifetime membership in the Burro Hundred Club. The event will establish permanent course records for overall laps and for the Burro Hundred.
The event coordinates a volunteer trail work day, removes course markings after the race, and donates five dollars from each entry to the Bear Valley Education Foundation for trail maintenance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
