Portland Coastal Marathon : Portland, 14 February 2027
The Portland Coastal is a self-navigation coastal trail event held at Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy on 14 February 2027. The course follows the South West Coast Path around Portland and runs on exposed coastal terrain in February; the route is not flat.
Distances
- Marathon - two loops of the island
- Half Marathon - one loop section
- 10k - one loop section
Runners must download the GPX file in advance and follow it on a device; there will be no event-specific route markers. Keep the sea on the left for the first loop and on the right for the second loop. Checkpoints confirm full course completion and shortcuts or deviations may lead to disqualification.
All entrants must carry mandatory kit for the duration of the race; kit checks may take place before, during and after the event and the top ten male and female finishers will be checked. Required items include minimum 500 ml fluid capacity; windproof jacket with waterproof recommended; emergency nutrition; head covering; charged waterproofed mobile phone; foil blanket or full-size bin liner; whistle; a small first aid kit (tape, plasters, wound dressing). No kit means no number, no result and no refund.
Traditional earbuds and noise-cancelling headphones are not permitted; bone-conduction devices are allowed. Entries are capped at 500. Finishers receive a bespoke finisher medal; trophies are awarded to the top three male and female in each distance. Other event services include checkpoint refreshments, professional medical cover, chip timing, free professional race photography, a Portland Coastal buff, an optional technical T-shirt (£15) and referral rewards via Eventrac.
