Berkorun - Berkhamsted Rotary Half Marathon and Five Mile Fun Run
This is the 43rd annual event organized by the Berkhamsted Rotary Club. The race offers two distances:
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- Five Mile Run
The event raises funds for local charities, with particular support for Dacorum Emergency Night Shelter (DENS), the Pepper Foundation, and the Hospice of St Francis.
Both races start and finish at Berkhamsted Cricket Club, a short walk from the railway station and town. The course tracks through countryside in the Chilterns. The Half Marathon route has signage at each mile and several drinks stations. The Five Mile Run shares part of the Half Marathon route, with two-thirds on country roads and one uphill section; it has a drinks station at about the halfway point.
Entry is online only. Registration closes at midnight on the night before the run. There are early bird, standard, and late entry price tiers. The Half Marathon is limited to 1,750 entrants and the Five Mile Run to 750. Discounts are available for school teams and affiliated running clubs.
Half Marathon entrants must be 17 or older and must be able to complete the course in under 3 hours. While there is no formal age restriction for the Five Mile Run, participants under 12 must be accompanied by a responsible person over 18.
All finishers receive a medal. Half Marathon finishers also receive a complimentary t-shirt. Pay & display parking is available within 500 metres of the start. Limited changing facilities are available in a marquee, but there are no showers. A baggage tent is provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
