About the race
De 29th edition of the Berenloop Terschelling Marathon is scheduled on 1 November 2026 in West-Terschelling. The event programme spans the weekend, with shorter runs on Saturday 31 October and the marathon day on Sunday.
Distances for this event
- 21.1 km (halve marathon)
- 42.2 km (hele marathon)
For 2026 the half and full marathon distances are reported as uitverkocht (sold out). Only the youth run still accepts entries.
Saturday events
- 5 km and 10 km (Kleintje Berenloop), held on Saturday morning over routes through woods and dunes on sometimes undulating cycle paths near West.
- 600 m and 1.200 m (Jeugdloop), held Saturday afternoon for children aged 6 to 12 in two age groups (6–8 and 9–12). The youth races have no official timing, prizes for numbers 1, 2 and 3, and a finisher medal for all participants.
Route notes for main distances
- The half marathon runs from West via the harbour and Hoofdweg to Midsland and Formerum, then through forest, dunes and along the beach back to West, with music and local encouragement along the course.
- The full marathon runs over the island from West to the Boschplaat and back, traversing dunes, forest and beach, finishing in West near the Brandaris.
