Bend Beer Chase
The Bend Beer Chase is a one-day running relay covering approximately 57 miles in Central Oregon. The event is designed for teams of one to six participants, who navigate a course divided into 12 legs. Each leg ranges from 4 to 8 miles in distance. On a standard six-person team, each member completes two legs of the relay, though smaller teams may distribute the legs differently to cover the full distance.
The course begins in downtown Bend at Drake Park, following the Deschutes River. Runners travel along trails and rural back roads toward Redmond before returning to the starting location. The route includes exchange points hosted by local breweries, where participants have the option to sample 3-4oz craft beer pours. Every team is required to have a designated driver who does not consume alcohol during the event.
The event concludes with a riverside festival at Drake Park, featuring various beers on tap. Participation supports the Cascade Relays Foundation, which provides funding to several local charities and non-profit organizations.
