Ben and Tim Day
The Ben and Tim Day features multiple athletic events held at Hershey High School in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The event honors the memory of two former student-athletes, Ben Yupcavage and Tim Russell, with proceeds supporting a memorial scholarship fund for local students. Participants can choose between physical races on-site or a virtual participation option.
The featured distances include:
- 5K Run
- 1 Mile Fun Run
- Virtual Run
The 5K course is USATF certified (#15043WB). Runners can expect split times at the 1-mile and 2-mile marks, with a water station located near the midpoint of the course. Logistics at the finish line area include the provision of water and fruit for participants. Note that the facility does not provide showers or lockers. Timing for the race is conducted by NOVA Timing Systems using disposable BibTags.
Awards are presented at a ceremony following the completion of the Fun Run. Cash prizes are awarded to the top five male and female finishers in the 5K, as well as to Masters winners. Additionally, prizes are provided for the top three finishers in nine different age categories, ranging from 13 and under to 80 and over. Participants in the 1 Mile Fun Run aged 12 and under receive a goodie bag.
Packet pick-up and race registration are available at Hershey High School on the Friday evening before the event and on the morning of the races. Participants who register by August 1 are guaranteed a commemorative T-shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
