Bellingham Off-Road Triathlon
The Bellingham Off-Road Triathlon is a USAT sanctioned off-road triathlon held at Lake Padden Park on Sunday, August 30, 2026. The event can be completed solo or as a relay team and is capped at 200 athletes. Entry fees listed for the event are: Individual $75, 2-person relay $120, and 3-person relay $150. A USAT one-day license is included with race entry.
The course uses the west entrance area at Lake Padden Park. The transition area is on the grass between the parking lot and the swimming beach near the west side entrance.
Distances:
- 800 m Swim on Lake Padden
- 9 km Mountain Bike loop on single-track and gravel
- 4.1 km Trail Run clockwise around the lake
Swim details: a clockwise swim with buoys kept to the swimmer’s right and a self-seeding mass wave start. Bike details: the route exits east from transition onto gravel, passes the boat launch, playground, and dog park, then moves onto single-track that includes an Expert Loop with switchbacks before returning to the main gravel trail. The bike course is noted as technically demanding; organizers recommend a mountain bike and advise pre-riding the course. Run details: the run follows the gravel path clockwise around the lake, keeping the lake on the right.
Wetsuits are not required. Lake water temperature is expected in the 68 to 74 degree range on race day. Relay teams exchange the timing chip inside the transition area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
