Bellingham Off Road Triathlon
The Bellingham Off Road Triathlon is a USAT sanctioned off road triathlon held at Lake Padden Park on Sunday, August 30, 2026. The event can be completed solo or as a relay team and is capped at 200 athletes. The transition area is located on the grass between the parking lot and the swimming beach near the west side entrance to Lake Padden Park.
The course consists of three consecutive legs:
- 800 m swim, clockwise with buoys on the right, self-seeding mass wave start.
- 9 km mountain bike loop, single-track and gravel including an Expert Loop with switchbacks.
- 4.1 km gravel trail run around the lake, run clockwise on the main gravel path.
Relay teams exchange the timing chip inside the transition area. The bike course is described as very challenging; mountain bikes are recommended while gravel bikes are permitted. A one-day USAT license is included with race entry for nonmembers. Packet pickup requires presentation of ID and packets cannot be picked up by others. The Lake Padden water temperature is expected to be in the 68 to 74 degree range on race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
