What It Is

This is a Backyard Ultra event at Beecraigs Country Park in West Lothian, Scotland. Participants run a loop of 4.167 miles (approximately 6.7 km) every hour, starting precisely on the hour, until only one runner remains. There is no set finish distance.

The Event

This is the inaugural edition of the event. Runners must complete each loop within the 60-minute time limit to continue. The loop is the same each hour and follows a mix of forest trails and gravel paths, with an elevation gain of about 150 meters per lap. If a runner does not complete a loop in time or is not in the starting corral for the next hourly start, they are out.

What's Provided

The entry fee includes race participation, timing, one vehicle parking space, access to a camping area for one tent or small shelter, access to a covered rest area, basic drinks and snacks for runners, toilets, and live lap tracking. All participants who do not finish receive a memento. The last runner standing receives a trophy and free entry for the following year.

Logistics

The race starts on 25 April 2026. The venue opens at 7:00am, with registration from that time and a race briefing at 10:30am. Participants should bring their own food and fuel. Required kit includes a head torch and hi-vis or reflective clothing for night running. Runners may only receive support between laps, not during them.
