Beecraigs Backyard Ultra : 24 April 2027, Beecraigs Country Park
Beecraigs Backyard Ultra is a timed loop race held at Beecraigs Country Park near Linlithgow in the Bathgate Hills. The format requires runners to complete a 4.167-mile (6.7056 km) loop every hour; finish within the hour to start the next lap. The event continues until only one runner completes a solo lap, at which point that runner is declared the winner. All other participants are recorded as DNF and every participant receives a finisher's medal. A trophy is awarded to the last runner standing and to the Assist.
The route uses forest trails, gravel paths and undulating woodland tracks, with approximately 150 m elevation gain per loop. The loop is the same each hour and route markings will be clear and consistent. Live results and lap tracking are provided.
Entry includes race participation and timing, parking for one vehicle, access to a camping area for a tent or a small shelter (maximum 3 x 3 m), basic snacks for self-supported runners, hot water plus tea and coffee, toilets and a covered rest marquee. Hot drinks require a reusable cup. First aiders will be on site.
Compulsory kit includes a head torch or chest or waist torch, hi-vis or reflective clothing for after dark, and the race number. Organisers prohibit open flames and camping stoves on site and request advance notice for campervans and limited solo runner spaces. Runners may leave the course only to use the toilet and must check out at Race HQ if they withdraw. The event will proceed in most conditions unless the Park Ranger declares the site unsafe due to severe weather. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
