Beaufort Bridge Run 5K & 1+ Mile Dog Strut

The Beaufort Lions Club hosts the eighth annual Beaufort Bridge Run in historic Beaufort, North Carolina. This event features a 5K race and a 1.2-mile dog strut, taking participants over both local bridges: the high-rise Gallants Channel (Grayden Paul) Bridge and the Turner Street Bridge. The course offers views of Gallants Channel, Taylor's Creek, and the surrounding town.

Available distances include:

  • 5K
  • 1.2 Miles

The 5K course is USATF certified and utilizes chip timing for all participants. Dogs are prohibited from the 5K route on the high-rise bridge due to NCDOT regulations but are welcome in the Dog Strut. Strollers are permitted in both events. The Dog Strut is an untimed 1.2-mile walk or run, though prizes are awarded to the top three finishers.

A post-race party is held at the Backstreet Pub, featuring food from the Turner Street Market. The event serves as a fundraiser for the Beaufort Lions Club, supporting various non-profit organizations in Carteret County and raising awareness for diabetes. Participants can also visit the local farmers' market and waterfront boardwalk located near the event site.

The first 200 registered participants receive a commemorative T-shirt, which must be collected in person during packet pickup. Awards are provided for the top three male and female finishers in the 5K, including master categories and various age groups ranging from 12 and under to 70 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
