Beat the Bugs
Beat the Bugs is a trail running event held at the Caledonia Nordic Ski Centre, located at 8141 Otway Road. The race utilizes the Otway trail system, featuring a combination of cross-country ski trails and single track paths. The running surface consists of dirt and gravel.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 5 km: a relatively flat route suitable for those new to trail racing.
- 10 km: a course designated as intermediate to advanced in difficulty.
- a free Kids Race is provided as part of the event.
The race starts in the stadium area of the Nordic Centre. The specific routes change annually to provide variety for returning runners. Given the event takes place in June, the presence of insects on the trails is expected. For safety and liability reasons, participants are required to leave dogs and headphones at home.
