Beara Way LITE : Castletownbere, County Cork
Beara Way LITE is a mountain ultra that follows the Beara Way route around Castletownbere. The course covers significant ascent and is marked only at major junctions. GPS devices are allowed and a map or GPS route is required in mandatory kit.

- 70 km main route
- 10 km championship grade mountain section
- 60 km ultra section
The route initially follows the marked Beara Way for about 5 km, then diverts over Mishkish mountain to Eyeries Village. It rejoins the Beara Way and proceeds through Allihies, out to Dursey Cable Car Station and back to Castletownbere. Aid stations are manned and stocked with tea, coffee, coke, sweets and snacks. Aid locations include Eyeries Village Hall and Allihies Village Hall; marshals are sited at Dursey Cable Car Station and on the Mishkish descent. Toilets and first aid are available at the main aid stations.
Entry fee is €80. Entries close on 8 May 2026 and places are limited.
All runners must carry Level C mandatory kit. Required items include a waterproof jacket with hood, waterproof full leg cover, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone, foil blanket or bivvy, emergency food, map and compass or GPS, means to carry at least 500 mL water, and a tracker.
