Beacons Way Ultra 100 Mile
The Beacons Way Ultra 100 Mile is scheduled for Saturday 24 July 2027 in the Brecon Beacons National Park. The event covers 100 miles with 6143 m of ascent, offers 250 places, has a 40 hour cut off and an entry fee of £229. The race awards UTMB Performance Index points and ITRA points and provides live online GPS tracking via GB Race Tracker.
The route follows the Beacons Way National Trail, starting at Abergavenny Castle, passing through the Black Mountains, the central fans including Pen-y-Fan, and the Carmarthen Fans, with the finish at Llangadog RFC. Support is provided across the course by ten checkpoints that offer refreshments and medics; indoor checkpoints include hot food and hot drinks.
Entrants must be at least 20 years old and declare suitable prior experience. Each participant must have completed an organised ultramarathon of at least 50 miles under race conditions before race day and must be competent in map and compass navigation. Experience in mountainous terrain is required.
Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and will be checked at registration and during the race. Required items include a full paper map of the area, a base plate compass, backup light source and headtorch, a GPS tracker provided by the organiser, warm and waterproof clothing, a thermal survival bag, emergency rations and a charged mobile phone. Dropbags can be sent to CP4 and CP9 and to the finish. One pacer is permitted from CP5 and optional coach return to Abergavenny is offered for a fee.
