About the race
The Beacons Way Ultra 100 Mile is a 100 mile ultramarathon across the Brecon Beacons National Park on Saturday 24 July 2027. The route follows the official Beacons Way National Trail from Abergavenny Castle to Llangadog RFC and crosses the Black Mountains, the central Beacons including Pen‑y‑Fan and the Carmarthen Fans, with a total ascent of 6143m. The event has 250 places and an overall cut‑off of 40 hours; the entry fee is £229.
The course is supported at 10 checkpoints. Each checkpoint provides refreshments, indoor hot food at some locations, and medical cover. Checkpoint cut‑offs are strictly enforced and all competitors must check in at every checkpoint or face disqualification. Supporter access is restricted at certain checkpoints for safety. Optional dropbags are transported to CP4 and CP9 and to the finish; size and weight limits apply.
Entry requires specific experience and navigation skills. Entrants must be at least 20 years old, declare suitable experience, be competent in map and compass navigation, and have completed at least one organised 50 mile ultramarathon before race day. Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and is subject to random checks; required items include an OS or Harvey map, a compass, a headtorch and backup light, waterproofs, thermal survival bag, GPS tracker provided by the organisers, and emergency rations.
