Beacons Way Ultra 100 Mile
The Beacons Way Ultra 100 Mile is a 100 mile trail ultramarathon across the Brecon Beacons National Park on Saturday 24th July 2027. The route follows the official Beacons Way National Trail, starting at Abergavenny Castle and finishing at Llangadog RFC, and includes 6,143 m of ascent through the Black Mountains, the central Beacons including Pen-y-Fan, and the Carmarthen Fans.
The event is limited to 250 places and has an overall cut-off of 40 hours. GB Race Tracker provides live online GPS tracking for entrants. The race awards UTMB Performance Index and ITRA points and offers optional coach return transport to the start for an additional fee.
Support is provided at ten checkpoints en route. Checkpoints supply drinks, hot food at indoor locations, vegetarian and vegan options, and medic cover. Participants must check in at every checkpoint; failure to do so results in disqualification.
Entry is restricted to experienced runners. Entrants must be at least 20 years old, declare suitable experience, be competent at map and compass navigation, and have previously completed an organised 50 mile ultramarathon under race conditions.
Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and includes a hardcopy OS or Harvey map, a baseplate compass, GPS tracker issued at registration, a headtorch (min 75 lumens) plus a backup light (min 25 lumens), thermal survival bag, waterproof coat and trousers, water capacity of at least 1 litre, emergency rations (min 500 calories) and appropriate clothing.
