Beacons Ultra, Marathon and Half 2026
The Beacons Ultra, Marathon and Half is a multi-distance running event held in the Brecon Beacons. All races start and finish at Henderson Hall in the village of Talybont-on-Usk. The event takes place in November, meaning participants may encounter varied weather conditions, ranging from temperatures below freezing to rain and mist.
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- Ultra: A 49-mile course consisting of two 23-mile loops with an additional out-and-back section to Pen Y Fan on the first loop. It features 2,258 metres of total elevation.
- Marathon: A 26-mile single loop of the Ultra route, including an ascent of Pen Y Fan, with a total elevation gain of 1,319 metres.
- Half Marathon: A 13-mile route to the east of Talybont-on-Usk. The course traverses the 551m Tor Y Foel hill and the Talybont reservoir, with 543 metres of total elevation.
The terrain for all distances is a mixture of trails, mountain paths, canal side paths, and roads. The event is open to individuals aged 18 and older. Registration is handled via a pre-entry system, and there are no specific qualification requirements for entry. The courses provide a variety of technical sections and significant climbing through the mountain landscape of Wales. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
