Event Details

The Beach Bunny 5K is an annual community event hosted by Fairfield Community Services at Jennings Beach in Fairfield, Connecticut. The primary event is a chip-timed 5K (3.1 miles) run or walk. Registration for the 5K includes a bib, and participants can pick up their bib and shirt in the week before the event at the Fairfield Parks & Recreation office or on the morning of the event at the beach. The event takes place in late March.

Other Activities

In addition to the 5K, the event features several family-friendly activities:

  • A free Family Bunny Hop, which is a 0.8-mile walk.
  • Two free Easter Egg Scrambles for children, separated by age group (5 & younger and 6 & older). Participants are asked to bring their own basket for the scrambles.
  • An event village called the "Bunny Burrow" with activities such as a DJ, a roving magician, face painters, balloon twisters, a petting zoo, and photo opportunities.
  • Food and beverages are available for purchase from vendors, with complimentary water, granola bars, and bananas for 5K participants.

Logistics

Parking is complimentary at Jennings Beach (880 South Benson Road), with overflow parking available at nearby locations. The starting line for both the 5K and the Bunny Hop is on Fairfield Beach Road, just past the entrance to the Fairfield Beach Club. Participants gather in the Jennings lot and walk to the start after the road is closed.

Strollers and leashed dogs are permitted for the 5K and Bunny Hop. The 5K is held rain or shine, though the children's egg scrambles may be rescheduled for inclement weather. Due to the fundraising nature of the event, refunds are not available.

Awards and Recognition

Age group awards are given for the 5K, with first, second, and third place medals for categories from 9 & under to 80+. There is also recognition for the overall fastest male, female, and non-binary runners. Event proceeds support future Fairfield Community Services programs.
