About the race
The Be Aware 5K for Youth Suicide Awareness and Prevention is an event intended to draw attention to rising youth mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, and the potential for suicide. The event takes place on October 11, 2026, and offers both in-person and virtual participation.
Participants may register in timed or untimed categories for the 5K. Registration information from the organizer includes a standard fee of $35, with a reduced fee of $25 for students. The standard registration period opens on May 23 and closes on October 10. Registrants must register by September 24 to guarantee an event t shirt. Virtual registrants will receive race swag if they register by October 1.
Registration activities and the opening ceremony are scheduled at the Dakota High School 9th Grade Center. The venue address is 21055 21 Mile Rd, Macomb, MI 48044. Entrances are noted as off 21 Mile at the light or via Cougar Drive off Heydenreich. Four legged friends are permitted. The organizer also accepts virtual registrations and donations to teams as alternative ways to participate in support of the event purpose.
