BC50K Trail Ultra
The BC50K Trail Ultra is a 50 kilometre trail event around Bishop's Castle with about 5,000 feet of elevation. The route begins and ends at The Church Barn, where hot and cold drinks, snacks, toilet facilities and nearby parking are available.
The course follows sections of the Shropshire Way, Offa's Dyke Path and the Kerry Ridgeway. Terrain includes quiet country roads, trails, woodland, open fields and single track paths. The event is dog friendly.
This is a navigational event and participants must save the GPX file to a watch or phone. There is no cut off time; however, this is not a walking event and participants should be prepared to run, jog and walk the route.
Three evenly spaced aid stations, approximately at mile 9, 15 and 24, offer water, cola, squash, salty potatoes, sandwiches, sausage rolls, soup, crisps, sweets, flapjack, fruit and other refreshments. Marshals and volunteers are positioned along the route and finishers receive a finisher's medal.
Recommended kit includes the GPX file on a device, at least one litre of water, a fully charged mobile phone, food or gels, a waterproof jacket or base layer, a foil blanket, a foldable cup and a headtorch. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
