Event overview
The Baystate race day is on Sunday, October 19, 2025. The event includes the following distances:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- Relay (including a badges relay option for first responders)
The marathon field is limited to 1,500 runners and is sold out for 2025. The half marathon still has available entries. The event is hosted and organized by the Greater Lowell Road Runners and is run entirely by volunteers. Baystate has been designated as an RRCA National Championship event for 2025. Over the past two years, 28% of the marathon field achieved a Boston Qualifier time.
Race features and community impact
Recent race additions and services include finish-line monitors that display name and finishing time, courtesy changing tents located next to the bag check area, and an on-course expo near the final mile for bib pickup. The event provides a race fly-through video and a personalized photo gallery available the day after the race. A BQ/PR bell with a photographer and a Recovery Tent staffed by massage therapists and physical therapists are part of the finisher area. The course also features a "Motivation Mile" with signs of encouragement.
All race proceeds are distributed to the local running community. Funds support scholarships for local high school seniors, the GLRR Youth Program, donations to local high schools that volunteer, and partial funding for benefits tied to GLRR membership.
