Baslow Boot Bash
The Baslow Boot Bash is an annual walking and running event first held in 2005. It offers two measured routes through the Peak District National Park and raises funds for Baslow Choir, a registered charity that supports the choir's use of professional singers and musicians.
The event features these distances:
- 26 miles
- 14 miles
The 26 mile route runs in the White Peak and includes views of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, passing through Chatsworth Park, Over Haddon, Sheldon, Monsal Dale, Cressbrook Dale, Foolow, Eyam, Froggatt and Calver before returning to Baslow. The 14 mile route follows the 26 mile course to the first checkpoint, then heads towards Bakewell via the Monsal Trail, proceeds north to Rowland and Longstone Edge, then east and south to the final checkpoint and the finish in Baslow.
Entry fee is £30 and includes email confirmation, free car parking, free morning drinks during registration, medical support and communications on the route, checkpoint refreshments (water, squash and biscuits), transport to the finish for retirees, finishers' badges and certificates, post-event food with vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options, and the published results and event report.
Final route files and checkpoint details are sent in early May. Participants must carry mapping or electronic navigation, suitable clothing and footwear, food, and a basic first aid kit. Dogs are allowed on a lead and minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Kit storage is available at the village hall at owner risk. The organisers accept no responsibility for injury, damage or loss and reserve the right to add rules as necessary. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
