Basingstoke Half Marathon
The Destination Basingstoke Phillips Law event is a community running weekend centred on Basingstoke. The programme includes road races over several distances and a children’s one-mile race. The organiser is Destination Basingstoke and the headline sponsor is Phillips Law. The 2026 event is scheduled for Sunday 4 October 2026.
The event features:
- Half Marathon (road race through villages and countryside)
- 10k
- 5k
- Children’s one-mile race for ages 5 to 10
Most of the main routes run on traffic-free minor roads through undulating countryside; subject to road-closure approvals, roads on the route are closed for race day. The Half Marathon starts near the Crossborough Hill car park in Basingstoke and passes through Cliddesden, Ellisfield and Farleigh Wallop. Notable course features include Bedlam Bottom, known locally as the Big Dipper with a drop and immediate rise of about 100 feet between miles 8 and 9, a tree-lined avenue to mile 9, and a final section that returns through Cliddesden into War Memorial Park with a short grass loop before the finish at Crossborough Hill.
Additional facts from recent years: the 5k became a permanent race, over 1,700 runners took part in 2025, the 10k route was revised in 2023, and separate start times for the Half Marathon and 10k were introduced in 2025. Roads remain open outside event day and care is advised when training on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
