Destination Basingstoke Phillips Law Half Marathon
The Destination Basingstoke Phillips Law event is a multi-distance road race organised by Destination Basingstoke, held in and around Basingstoke with a race village at Crossborough Park, War Memorial Park.
Distances
- Half Marathon - a 21.1 km road course on mostly traffic-free minor roads.
- 10k - road route sharing sections with the half marathon.
- 5k - a new shorter course that follows part of the main routes.
- Children's races including a free one-mile race for younger runners in recent years.
The course passes through countryside and villages including Cliddesden, Ellisfield and Farleigh Wallop. It features notable undulating sections and a steep drop and rise locally known as Bedlam Bottom or the Big Dipper. Much of the route uses closed roads subject to local approvals, and the final section returns through War Memorial Park with a short grass loop to the finish.
Event facilities include a race village with refreshment and sponsor areas, multiple water stations (three on the half marathon, one on the 10k plus water at the finish), a bag drop, pacers and cash prizes for overall and age category placings. Entry age minimums apply: 17 for the half marathon, 15 for the 10k and 11 for the 5k. UK Athletics headphone rules apply; bone-conduction devices are permitted while in-ear and over-ear devices are restricted on open roads.
