Basingstoke Half Marathon
The Destination Basingstoke Phillips Law event comprises a half marathon, a 10k, a 5k and children's races. It is organised by Destination Basingstoke and supported by sponsors including Phillips Law and Lilly. The 2026 event takes place on Sunday, 4 October.
The courses use traffic free, closed roads and pass through countryside and villages around Basingstoke. The half marathon route includes hills near Cliddesden and Farleigh Wallop. Route changes in recent years have included a revised 10k aimed at faster times and the addition of family friendly races for children.
The event has separate start times for the half marathon and the 10k in recent editions, and in 2025 the weekend included a new 5k race that follows part of the main route. The 5k is open to runners aged 11 and over. Phillips Law increased sponsorship to enable a free one mile children's race for 5 to 10 year olds in 2026; in 2025 each child participant received a medal.
Participant numbers have risen in recent years, with over 1,700 runners taking part in 2025. The event provides event support on course and aims for a community festival atmosphere while operating with the organisation and facilities found at larger races.
