About the race
The Barry Island 10K is a road race held on Sunday 16 May 2027 in the seaside resort of Barry Island and delivered by Run 4 Wales. The main event is a 10 km race on fully closed roads that follows a route along the seafront and through town, passing Whitmore Bay, the Knap, Barry Dock Offices, Subway Road, Broad Street, Barry Train Station, Romilly Park, Watch House Bay and views of Porthkerry Country Park.
A series of junior races takes place along the promenade after the main event. These include a family Fun Run, a Toddler Dash for very young children, and the Future Challengers race aimed at competitive young athletes and club runners.
Event facilities include an Event Village and course entertainment. 10K entries include a finishers medal, a technical race t-shirt, an on-course water station and live tracking via the Run 4 Wales app. Race numbers are posted to participants within a week of the event.
The weekend also features the Gŵyl Fach y Fro Welsh language arts and culture festival on the Saturday, extended into the event weekend. The Barry Island 10K is part of the Run 4 Wales 10K Series. Accessibility provisions state that wheelchairs may enter both the 10K and the Family Fun Run, while buggies are permitted only in the Fun Run.
Information on charity entries, business challenge packages and elite qualifying is provided by the event organiser. Participants fundraising for Cancer Research Wales are asked to meet a minimum sponsorship level and may register with TeamCRW for team support and materials.
