Barry Island 10K
The Barry Island 10K is a road running event on Barry Island with a main 10K race and a programme of junior races. The course uses fully closed roads and passes a range of seaside landmarks and town features, including Whitmore Bay, the Knap, Romilly Park, Watch House Bay, Barry Dock Offices, Subway Road, Broad Street, Barry Train Station, Porthkerry Country Park, The Parade, the amusement centre and Friars Road gardens.
Race entry includes a running number sent to participants within a week of the event, a finishers medal, a technical race t-shirt, an on-course water station, course entertainment, Event Village facilities and live tracking via the Run 4 Wales app.
Junior events run along the promenade and include a Fun Run, a Toddler Dash and a Future Challengers race for club athletes and competitive youngsters. Accessibility arrangements allow wheelchairs to enter both the 10K and the Family Fun Run; buggies are permitted only in the Fun Run.
The event takes place alongside the Gŵyl Fach y Fro Welsh language, arts and culture festival, which is held across the same weekend, and is delivered by Run 4 Wales as part of the Run 4 Wales 10K Series.
