Barry Island 10K - Run 4 Wales (R4W)
The Barry Island 10K is a coastal road race that forms part of the R4W 10K Series. The main race covers 10 km and takes place on fully closed roads that pass the town’s seaside spots and recognisable landmarks.
Races start and finish at Whitmore Bay. An Event Village at the bay includes live music, entertainment, stalls and street food. The beach at Barry is a sandy blue flag beach where some participants choose to swim after the event.
A programme of children’s activities runs along the promenade, including a Family Fun Run and a Toddler Dash, giving younger participants separate, shorter races close to the main event area.
Practical details mentioned by the organiser include the route showcasing the town’s scenic seaside areas and that the road closure provides a traffic-controlled route for the race. The atmosphere is described as a feel good community event focused on seaside running and family activities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
