Barry Island 10K
The Barry Island event on Sunday 16 May 2027 features a main 10K road race and a programme of junior races. The 10K runs on fully closed roads and follows a scenic seaside route that passes Whitmore Bay, the Knap, Barry Dock Offices, Broad Street, Barry Train Station and Romilly Park, with views of the Bristol Channel and Porthkerry Country Park later in the course. The route also runs alongside Knapp pebble beach and Watch House Bay before returning along The Parade and finishing near the gardens on Friars Road.
Junior events take place along the promenade and include a Toddler Dash, a Fun Run and Future Challengers races for young club runners, with separate races for under 11s and older age groups. Wheelchair entry is permitted in the 10K and the Family Fun Run; buggies are allowed only in the Fun Run.
Race entry for the 10K includes a mailed race pack with bib, timing chip and baggage label, a technical race t-shirt and a finishers medal. On-course provision includes a water station at the 5K point in Romilly Park and water at the finish; the bottles provided are 330 ml and 100% recyclable. The event offers an Event Village, course entertainment, live tracking via the Run 4 Wales app and organised baggage storage in the Event Village. Race photos are available after the event.
