The Barrier Island Earth Day 5K and Festival takes place on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at St. Christopher Camp & Conference Center, 2810 Seabrook Island Road, Seabrook Island, SC 29455. The event includes a 5K Fun Run with separate entry options for runner/walker and non-runner/walker. Entry prices listed are $35 for the runner/walker option and $5 for the non-runner/walker option. Note that registration is required in advance and race shirt availability is guaranteed for registrations received by Friday, March 20, 2026. Race fees increase after December 30, 2025. Registration for the non-runner option closes April 24, 2026.
Course, festival, and purpose
The 5K course passes through five ecosystems in five kilometers: maritime forest, salt marsh, dunes, estuary, and beach. The festival includes food trucks, local vendors, a silent auction, environmental education booths, games and crafts, live animals, and tours of the herpetarium and aquarium. Animal tours require advance sign-up at the Barrier Island table in the Grove to ensure availability. Lodging opportunities are available for individuals and groups through the event organizer. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets, and personal water bottles; compost and recycling bins will be provided. Dogs are not allowed. Strollers are welcome at the festival but may be difficult on parts of the 5K course due to uneven terrain such as gravel, sand, and roots.
