Events
- 5K Fun Run (runner/walker)
- Earth Day Festivities (for non-5K participants)
Course Details
The 5K course runs through several coastal ecosystems on the barrier island. The route includes a maritime forest, salt marsh, dunes, and beach areas. The terrain is primarily on trails and includes exposed roots, uneven ground, sand, mud, and gravel. Some sections are single-file or less than six feet wide. The event happens rain or shine.
Festivities
A separate Earth Day festival runs concurrently. It includes food trucks, local vendors, environmental education booths, games and crafts for children, and live animal tours of a herpetarium and aquarium. These festivities are free and open to the public.
Registration & Logistics
Advance registration is required for the 5K. A race T-shirt is guaranteed for those who register by Wednesday, March 18, 2026. Children aged 5 and under do not need to register or pay for the 5K. Participants can form or join groups called "dolphin pods." Strollers are welcome at the festival but may be challenging on the 5K course due to the uneven terrain. Dogs are not permitted, except for service animals. Participants are encouraged to bring personal water bottles and seating like chairs or blankets.
