Barrel to Keg Relay - July 11, 2026
The Barrel to Keg Relay is a team-based relay running and walking event in its 12th year. It covers a route from Harris Bridge Vineyard in Philomath to the Yaquina Bay Yacht Club on the Historic Newport Bayfront. The course follows backcountry roads and runs alongside the Yaquina River before concluding on the Newport bayfront overlooking the bridge and harbor. The event notes a new finish location at the Yaquina Bay Yacht Club and states cold brews will be available at the finish line.
Teams typically form with up to seven runners or four walkers. Most teams provide one volunteer to assist on course, and the event averages about 100 teams. Two primary course options are listed:
- 67-mile run from Harris Bridge to Newport
- 33-mile walk from Harris Bridge to Newport
Event materials include detailed course maps, a course manual, leg breakdowns, and difficulty information. A pre-race campout is offered at Harris Bridge Vineyard the night before the event, with river swimming, a family-style potluck, live music around a campfire, and an overnight stay in the vineyard setting.
A portion of event proceeds will go to the Community Services Consortium, an organization that focuses on ending poverty by supporting food, housing, health care access, education, and job readiness. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
